Meeting the Man in the Moon 🌙

There has always been something deeply magical about the night sky. For centuries, the moon has watched over us, sparking folklore, guiding dreamers, and inspiring artists.

My latest creation, the Man in the Moon, is a whimsical nod to those classic celestial tales. As part of my growing celestial collection, this one-of-a-kind piece is full of character, vintage charm, and just a touch of mystery. With his expressive eyes, sculpted crescent face, and dapper attire, he looks like he just stepped right out of an old-world storybook to bring a little bit of cosmic magic into your home. Man in the Moon part of my celestial collection in my ETSY

A Little Gentleman: New Hand-Painted Paper Mâché Folk Art Doll

Hand-painted paper mâché folk art doll named 'A Little Gentleman' by Joanna Bolton, featuring a top hat and striped pants

Fresh from the studio! I’ve just finished this new little fellow. There’s something so special about the way his striped pants and tiny top hat came together.

He is a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted paper mâché sculpture, created with a love for the whimsical and the slightly mysterious. Standing tall in his finery, he’s ready to find a new home on a lucky collector's shelf.

You can find him and other new 'Small Wonders' in my Etsy Shop

Handmade Original Guardian Angel Doll – OOAK Clay Art by Joanna Bolton

I am so pleased to introduce my latest one-of-a-kind (OOAK) creation: a Handmade Original Guardian Angel. This piece was born from a love for vintage aesthetics and the peaceful symbolism of a praying figure. Each detail—from the delicate tilt of her head to the textured finish of her wings—was hand-sculpted with clay, ensuring that no two angels are ever exactly alike.

This soulful little messenger is finished with a soft, aged patina to give her a timeless, 'found' feel. She stands as a small reminder of peace and protection, making her a perfect addition to a folk art collection or   a thoughtful gift for someone special in my ETSY

Hand-painted paper mâché Lady Liberty folk art doll by Joanna Bolton, featuring a classic crown and torch with whimsical, patriotic details

There is something truly magical about watching a piece of paper and a bit of paste transform into a character with its own story to tell. Lately, my studio has been filled with the rustle of paper and the quiet company of these new sculptures. From the curious gaze of a dapper rabbit to the whimsical charm of handcrafted figures, I’m thrilled to finally share these latest creations with you. Each one is a labor of love, captured here in their finished form.
